Thus in short, visa is a legal approval, which is duly stamped in the passport of visa applicants entitling them to enter a foreign country. There are different types of visas with different prerequisites, and an applicant has to apply for the relevant visa as per his/her purpose of visits.

Tourist Visa: This is a short-term visa issued to the applicants seeking a foreign trip for sightseeing purpose. Individuals planning a trip (individual/group) to any foreign country for leisure activities or exploration can apply for such visas. Tourist visa is one amongst the most common types of travel visas around the globe.

Business Visa: Applicants seeking a trip to overseas country for business meets/conferences or any negotiations pertaining to business can apply for a Business Visa.

Commerce Visa: This kind of visa is mostly issued to the applicants seeking a trip to the Middle Eastern countries for conducting business transactions. However, in many countries such purpose of visit can be covered under Business Visa category as well.

Student Visa: Travelling abroad for higher studies or academic purpose is a modern trend. One who is interested to pursue his/her studies in a foreign country can apply for this type of visa.

Employment Visa: As the name suggests, an Employment Visa is purposefully issued for employment purpose in a foreign country wherein, the visa applicant will be paid by a company of the visiting country.

Transit Visa: If you are flying to US via Dubai and you have long stopover in Dubai before your next flight to US, a Transit Visa comes into existence under such situations. However, the holder of a Transit Visa is not allowed to exit the airport premises, and such visas are valid for very limited time frame.

Official/Diplomatic: This type of visa is not issued on regular basis like any other visa categories. Individuals travelling to a foreign country for conducting business on behalf of an official unit/government are required to apply for Official/Diplomatic Visas. Prospective applicants of such visas are required to submit their official/diplomatic passport.

Family Visa: If you wish to visit your family/relatives staying abroad, apply for a Family Visa. Such visas are also referred as Private Stay Visit.

Government Visa: Invited by a foreign to conduct business, these have unique circumstances and are generally reserved for Middle Eastern countries.

Entertainment Visa: These types of visas are issued to musicians/entertainers/artists to attend an event organised a country like Brazil and Australia.

Short Term Visa: As the name suggests, such visas are issued with minimum validity allowing an applicant to visit a foreign country and exit before the expiry of the visa validity. Most of the short-stay visas are valid for 90 days; however, depending on the country of visit, the time period of such visa may vary as well.

Retirement Visa: This is a kind of privilege visa allowing an individual to retire from their service in certain countries like Brazil, Indonesia and Philippines.

Long Term Visa: The validity of a long-term visa is comparatively more than a short-term visa. Many European Union (EU) Countries allow a tourist to stay there up to one year.
